'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range shot from outside the box, and the defender quickly hammered in the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory sealed an unbelievable turnaround given the team had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win earned a fourth-round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the City players who praised the way Orient attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It seems as if they always find their target and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a tough attitude and attention just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for club and country, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

It has been quite the ride for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his parent, his father, also a central player, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's only game for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The week before, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm planning to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
