Per new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a clemency request for consideration by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, declared in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for clemency.

The exact content of the clemency request are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and chance of unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her associates to call and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release indicates that those writing to her would email documents directly to the warden, who would hand them over to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the warden to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to her include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson added.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told close associates in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, the congressman also announced that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the president to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche attend a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether Trump had talked about a possible clemency for Maxwell with Blanche or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the move or special conditions in prison, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or agents have made any promises to Trump or his legal team.

The representative requested for a reply to the questions by 24 November.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
