A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent saved four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
